Indian Hill Railways
I have been watching the series on BBC i Player about the Indian hill railways, its been a fantastic series so far and I am looking forward to the third and final part next week. The dedication and enthusiasm of the railway workers and the indian people sums up all what I love about India the country and its people.
At times the whole thing looks a bit frightening, with the track and rolling stock having seen better days, but it goes on day after day and if a new part is needed they make it!
Being over a 100 years old and due to the nature of the terrain the bridges and tunnels are in constant need of a repair, and now the 3 mountain railways in India are classed as world heritage sites.

Spring In The Air
I hope you like the new look blog, took a little while to get it how I wanted it but I am pleased with it now.
A few weeks ago it looked like there would be no Daffs for Easter they were a good few weeks behind normal, but after a couple of weeks of some milder weather it looks like they will be in their prime just in time for the easter break.
Our patio is a sea of yellow this morning even thou they are looking a bit damp as it is pouring with rain and feels more like a winters morning.
The Koi are up and about and looking for food for the first time this year, I have given the filters a wash out and the pond has cleared out and looks good for the seasons ahead. I always keep a close eye on my fish this time of year as the fish are vulnerable to disease as the weather warms up for the first time. The barbel look well the two biggest are looking fit and well and the small ones I put in last year have doubled in size.

Why
Again I wonder why with the weather now changing for the better we have to give up fishing on the rivers because of the out dated close season rules.
The rivers for the first time in months are just beginning to fish and we have to stop now until june 16th, I wonder if the cormorants, otters and our foreign friends will all be stopping for the close season? I doubt it.
I did finish the season with 5 barbel over the weekend with a nice fish of 9lb 6oz the best of the bunch.
I promised you a picture of Ken Scotts best mahseer a fish of 46lb well done again Ken
I had a new product meeting with the team at Sonubaits and have to say I am really looking forward to trying some of the new products, look out for the Spicy Meaty Mix that is due out soon, one of the ingredients is a bit hush hush, but lets say its not a million miles from the Sausage Sizzle flavour that caught lots of barbel a few years ago.
Back to work tonight, but a couple of trips to look forward to next week in search of some big spring bream.
